Missing Person Found Safe

Pickens County Sheriff's Office Press Release

Sheriff Todd Hall reports that on Tuesday July 27, 2021 the Pickens County Sheriff's Office was contacted in reference to a missing person.

It was reported that Mrs. Margaret Acker of Pickens County had left her home around 11am to meet friends and had not been heard from since.

A search was initiated that included all Pickens County Law Enforcement and Fire Departments, along with family and friends.  Information was developed that Mrs. Acker had left Pickens County and outside agencies were contacted and assisted in the search.

The Sheriff's Office is pleased to report that Mrs. Acker was located safe and returned to her home where she was reunited with her family.

Sheriff Hall credits the family with this positive result. Mrs. Acker's family contacted the authorities almost immediately and the search began right away.

In missing persons cases it is very important to contact Law Enforcement as soon as possible and allow Officers the opportunity to get as much information as possible.

A few safety tips for families who might have elderly persons at risk:

Keep a list of phone numbers and emergency contact information as well as medical information in the glove box.  Have bottled water and a blanket in the vehicle in case of a break down in a remote area.  These are just a few suggestions to consider

The Sheriff's Office hosts a program called project life saver.  If you feel that your loved one could benefit from this program please contact your Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Hall expresses his thanks to everyone involved in this event.
