Pickens County Sheriff's Office Press Release

Sheriff Todd Hall reports that the night of March 6, 2021 Sheriff's Deputies responded to a fire at a residence in the Sapps Community.

Sapps Union Chapel Fire department, Pickensville Fire Department and Aliceville Fire Department responded to the call. A Sapps Firemen living close by went directly to the house and began fighting the fire using the homes garden hose until Fire Trucks could arrive and extinguish the fire.

Upon investigation it was determined that the fire was intentionally set. The fire caused several injuries and extensive property damage. Deputies arrested one subject on multiple charges. The circumstances of the fire are still under investigation. The injured persons are expected to recover after treatment at the hospital.

Sheriff Hall thanks Sapps, Pickensville and Aliceville Fire Departments for their response as well as the bystanders who stepped up and helped out.
